STOWAWAY: The Makeup Kit That Every Traveler Needs

stowaway

I always end up traveling with about three or four toiletry kits filled with all of the things that I think I need on the road. Let’s face it, most place you travel to you can buy anything that you’ve forgotten. But, I found that when I was in Asia, every skincare or makeup product for your face was loaded with whitener. So, I ended up bringing so much more than I needed in fear that I’d run out. This was an overshot. I barely used any of it. In fact, I found myself wishing I had brought less. Especially when it came to makeup. Enter Stowaway Cosmetics. The makeup company with the kit I wish I always had.

Toiletries and full size makeup products often end up being the heaviest items that you’ll carry in your bag. When I returned home from my last long trip, I started looking for travel sized makeup products, because in truth, I really don’t wear a lot of makeup. That’s when I found Stowaway Cosmetics. A company that creates and sells amazing makeup products in the perfect size for travel, or to just throw in your purse (seriously you can fit the entire Essentials Kit in a tiny bag and toss it in your bag).

My favorite part of the Stowaway line is that I’ll actually be able to finish these products before they expire. I won’t end up paying for a bunch of makeup that I’ll end up having to throw out before I even use all of it. I’m also obsessed with the minimalistic packaging and the fact that they offer you the essentials, and not a bunch of products you don’t actually need. Like I said, I don’t wear a ton of makeup, I go with the basics and that’s what they offer.

So, What Comes In The Stowaway Essentials Kit?

I tested out the Essentials Kit ($100) as well as a few bonus products and I loved them. So, I’ll break them down for you here:

Radiant Complexion BB Cream

This BB Cream is super lightweight, which I love because I can’t stand wearing heavy foundation. It goes on very evenly and is entirely buildable. (Available in fair, light, medium, and tan)

Creaseless Concealer

Talk about a concealer with awesome coverage for blemishes, dark spots, and under eye circles. I literally used the tiniest amount of this and was able to cover my dark circles , which is really the only area I always put concealer on. (Available in fair, light, medium, and tan)

Cheek & Lip Rouge

When I’m traveling I like any product that is easy to apply and has more than one use. This cream blush can be applied easily with only your finger tips and you can also use it on your lips. I got mine in the color Peony and it’s so pretty. (Available in Peony, Burnt Rose, and Cantaloupe)

Creme Lipstick

Okay, so I’ve tested out a ton of lipsticks. I like to wear bold colors when the mood strikes and I usually end up having to reapply more than once throughout the day or night. First of all, this lipstick, which I got in the color Scarlet, a beautiful red, goes on so smoothly. It’s not sticky and it lasted for hours without having to reapply. I drank out of a straw, I ate some food, and it did not budge. I think I’ve found my new favorite lipstick and I want every shade. (Available in Champagne, Peony, Scarlet, Fig, Cranberry, Raspberry, and Muted Plum)

Effortless Eyeliner

I like to use really thin eyeliner. And I don’t like having to sharpen pencils. This eyeliner is totally my style as it is an easy twist pen and it comes on thin and precisely. (Available in black and brown)

Essential Eye Palette

Any eye palette that comes with neutral  colors that are good for everyday wear is a win in my book. And one that comes with colors that I can use to fill in my brows with deserves a gold star. It even comes with an angled brush that I can use (although I’d probably pop my own brush into the bag because it was a little flimsy). All of the eyeshadow colors are super bendable and can easily be used to create a pretty, natural smoky eye look.

Mascara

You can either the Extreme Length Mascara or the Defined Volume Formula. I went with the first.  It was perfect – there is no need to pump, it doesn’t get clumpy and it’s a beautiful color that enhances your natural lashes.

Bonus Items:

Matte Bronzer

This bronzer is super pigmented if you have a heavy hand, but you can really blend the color to give yourself a nice and even tone. It would be really good if you’re into contouring (which I have no idea how to d0). I love that it’s matte because I can’t stand being shiny or glittery. Available in light or dark – $16)

Translucent Powder

I have never used translucent powder before, but it definitely helps with managing shine. Its’ also apparently good to set your makeup, which I’ve never tried before but will definitely attempt soon. ($16)

Kabuki Brush

This brush is so lovely. It is so soft. It’s a synthetic makeup brush and it’s angled so color goes on evenly. ($20)
