A Day Trip To Whitstable Using The Southeastern GroupSave Ticket

Since moving to the UK back in February, I’ve been really bad at exploring England. In the last six months, I’ve managed to travel to many places, but none of them were in England. Which is why I was really excited to embark on a day trip to Whitstable using the Southeastern GroupSave tickets.

I usually go on trips alone, or with other bloggers/influencers, but this trip was special because I could travel with my own friends. The Southeastern GroupSave tickets allowed me to have an adventure with some of my best friends in London.

How To Use The Southeastern GroupSave Tickets

Whoever said that traveling in a group was expensive has clearly never thought of using the GroupSave special offer from Southeastern. The ticket gives you a chance to explore different destinations in Kent while saving money on the cost by traveling with a group.

The Southeastern GroupSave ticket offer lets you travel with groups of three to nine people, which means you can head off with your whole family, or a huge group of friends for the day. The ticket type is valid on off-peak day returns for return on the same day, making it the perfect option for a quick day trip somewhere close by to London. You actually end up saving a 1/3 on the price of your individual adult ticket when you buy your tickets together. That means more money to spend at your actual destination!

How Easy Is It To Travel on Southeastern Railway?

My friends and I hopped on a train from St Pancras International. In about an hour and 15 minutes, we were at the coast, ready to explore Whitstable. The train was quick and comfortable and easy to find. As soon as we stepped off the train, my friends and I all agreed that because the journey was so easy, we had to make a day trip like this again soon.

Exploring Whitstable

Whitstable is the cutest little seaside fishing town. And getting there from the train station is really simple. Just follow the signs that say the town center and you’ll be there in about 15 minutes.

I suggest arriving early or making sure you book a restaurant in advance, especially if traveling on a weekend. We did a little bit of research on the train and found Samphire, a cute little spot on the High Street. I called ahead and booked us in for brunch! And it was delicious – we enjoyed Shakshuka, Yogurt and Granola, Eggs Benedict, and more.

Afterward, we headed to the waterfront to go for a stroll.

A Coastal Walk

We were very lucky that the weather was gorgeous, but I think that Whitstable would be charming on a rainy or cold day — just dress accordingly. No matter the weather I highly suggest you take a walk down the coast. You could walk for hours and hours, admiring the small town of Whitstable, the colorful beach huts, and the pretty rocky beach. We walked to Tankerton and then turned back around.

All Of The Oysters

Now you can’t go to Whitstable without trying some Oysters! They are literally everywhere. There are stalls dotted along the waterfront boardwalk and you really can’t go wrong because they are extremely fresh. We ended up trying a half dozen of Whitstable Trestles from The Forge. They were very salty but very delicious.

Why The Southeastern GroupSave Offer Made Our Day Better

whitstable

Using the Southeastern GroupSave ticket offer was great for us because the five of us were able to save some money and still take an awesome group trip to the coast. We don’t usually get to do things like this because our schedules are crazy, but it’s nice to know that it’s an option for the future! So what are you waiting for? Grab a group of friends and start exploring!

This post was sponsored by the Southeastern Railway, but as always, all opinions are my own. T&Cs apply, GroupSave fares are based on groups of 3 to 9 people traveling together at all times.
