#Checking In: Europa Belfast Hotel

Europa Belfast

I love visiting new places. So when the opportunity to travel to Belfast in Northern Ireland came to me, I knew I had to go (plus, it doesn’t hurt that 80 percent of the filming for Game of Thrones happens there…). I’m all for comfort and location these days when it comes to choosing accommodations, which is why I decided to call the Europa Belfast home for two nights.

The Location

Europa Belfast

I frequently choose an accommodation based off of location and honestly, I don’t think I could have done better. The Europa Belfast is not only located in the city center, but it’s also right around the corner from the bus station. So after arriving from Belfast International Airport, I hoped on a forty-five-minute bus ride and then only had to walk three minutes to get to the hotel.

In fact, I walked pretty much my entire time in Belfast. I was even able to pop back into my hotel throughout the day to either charge something or if I just wanted to sit for a few minutes and catch up on emails. Oh, and you might run into Kit Harrington… (I wish that happened).

About The Property

Europa Belfast

The Europa Belfast is a well-known hotel. In fact, it often hosts political figures (Hilary and Bill Clinton have stayed here), actors (the Game of Thrones Cast has stayed here), and musicians while they are in town. The hotel is also known as “Europe’s most bombed hotel.” It was bombed thirty-three times between 1970 and 1994 by the IRA, making it a huge part of Belfast’s history.

The hotel was refurbished in 2008 and has 272 rooms. And despite it being so large, the staff is fantastic and really helpful!

The Room

Europa Belfast

When you check into the Europa Belfast you’ll be incredibly comfortable and well taken care of. Rooms feature comfortable beds, desks, sitting areas, TV, tea and coffee, and even a large bathtub. My only issue was that the wifi signal was a bit weak in my room, but it did work well in the lounge area on the first floor.

The Food

Europa Belfast

When you stay at the Europa Belfast you should definitely take some time to dine at their on-site restaurant Causerie. The food is incredibly delicious and once again the staff was great. I enjoyed the fish and chips and the roasted squash salad. They were both really tasty!

If you book your room with breakfast included, you’ll have access to an awesome buffet. I say awesome because I was able to construct my own Eggs Benedict (and if you know me, you know that’s my favorite). There was hot food to choose from, cereals, toast, fruit, and freshly squeezed juices.

And if you’re interested in a drink at any time, then head to the Piano Bar — maybe someone will be playing jazz when you go!

Travel Colorfully was a welcomed guest of Europa Belfast but as always, all opinions are my own.
