The Truth About Travel IV

GoPro

You might drop your GoPro into a Quarry… I’m having a wonderful day in Chiang Mai at a quarry called The Grand Canyon, about 20 minutes from downtown. I decided to cliff jump into the water with my GoPro (because COME ON, that would be an amazing video!). Mind you, I’ve done this before…    I jump. I hit the water, the GoPro is still in my hand…. I get sucked down and my camera springs out of my hand… I go…

Chiang Rai: Black House

Black House

After visiting “The White Temple,” the next stop on our short trip to Chiang Rai had to be Baan Dam, or “The Black House.” The two structures are polar opposites, making the afternoon a perfect juxtaposition to our morning spent at Wat Rong Khun. Built by Thawan Duchanee, a local Chiang Rai artist and someone who had worked closely with the artist behind “The White Temple” on other projects, Baan Dam is the polar opposite of the fairytale like temple.  The Black House “The Black House” is…

Traveling To: Railay Beach

Railay Beach

Railay Beach is definitely my favorite of the places I’ve visited thus far and I only spent a day there! We booked a few nights at the Mini Boxtel, a brand new hostel in Ao Nang, where you sleep in a comfortable pod. It was very clean, very comfortable, quiet and close to the Long Boats that take you to Tonsai and Railay Beach. It was a nice change from the party scene we had experienced in Koh Phi Phi. We…

Koh Phi Phi: The Party Island

Koh Phi Phi

What do you do when you find out your first day of teaching has been postponed a week? You go island hopping of course… We decided to head down to Koh Phi Phi and Railay Beach for about a week. Originally we wanted to go to Koh Lanta, but because it was still technically the “offseason,” the ferries weren’t running frequently enough for us. Getting to Koh Phi Phi We flew into Krabi and spent the night at Pak Up…

October Adventures

october adventures

My October adventures were EPIC. I had a wonderful first two weeks in Thailand. I had orientation in Chiang Mai, moved to my new home in Phrae and traveled down south to Koh Phi Phi and Railay Beach. It was so much fun and such a great way to kick off the next five months living in Thailand. Experience what I was doing in October in Thailand yourself! And if you like the video, be sure to give it a thumbs up…
