The Thunderbird Inn in Savannah, GA was a great place to stay on our road trip (I mean, Jackson Five stayed here back in the day). It’s a charming throwback Motel, refurbished to look like a retro hotel from the sixties. Animals are welcome and it’s even Eco-friendly. Don’t miss out on a great deal to stay at a place that has historical value. Originally built in 1964, you will certainly feel like you’re back in those times when you stay at The Thunderbird Inn (it is included on the Historic Register of Savannah!).

When you check in, reception will offer you some freshly popped popcorn and lemonade. When you head up to your room, you will find a Moon Pie on your pillow and a Royal Crown Cola on your bedside. In the morning, enjoy Krispy Kreme Donuts for breakfast before heading out downtown. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Filled with simple comforts, you will be very happy you checked in.

If you find yourself looking to bring some of that nostalgia with you, look no further than the souvenir shop. You can find Moon Pie Items (like flavored coffee or desserts and snacks), Thunderbird Apparel, Tbird’s Exclusive Dog Shampoo and Conditioner, Picture Frames, Novelty Items, Travel Books and more!

The Thunderbird Inn is a short walk to the City Market and the rest of the Historic Downtown Area. It is the perfect place to stay if you are on a budget, but still want to stay walking distance to the downtown area. You can find the Savannah Civic Center, Visitor’s Center, Greyhound bus and Dot transportation hub, Sightseeing shuttles, the new Children’s Museum, Georgia History Museum, Georgia Railroad Museum and SCAD very close by.
