Three Things You Can’t Miss Out On In Ljubljana

ljubljana

Slovenia was literally a dream. From the picturesque views in Lake Bled, to the rolling fields in Bela Krajina, to the eclectic streets of Ljubljana, Slovenia has something to offer to everyone.

I was told that I would be bored in Ljubljana, but I really wasn’t. I was told that I only needed to spend one night in the city, but I’m so glad I decided to spend three nights instead of listening to everyone else. Because Ljubljana is a hidden gem that deserves more credit than its given. And while there are a ton of things to do, I’m sharing the three that I think you can’t miss out on during your time there.

Three Things You Can’t Miss Out On In Ljubljana

Explore Metelkova

ljubljana

Metelkova is an abandoned barracks in Ljubljana. It’s the mere definition of eclectic and is home to some amazing street art and popping night life. As you all probably know by now, street art has become my niche in the travel blogging world and a visit to Ljubljana would have been incomplete without checking out Metelkova. Sure, it’s an interesting place, but it really shows off the character of the city.

Take A Paddle Down The River

Paddle boarding in Ljubljana!? Yes! Explore the city in a new and interesting way by booking a paddle down the river with Bananaway. You’ll have such a great time and even feel like a celebrity as everyone stops to take photos of you. The tours last about two hours and leave either in the morning or evening. You’ll leave with a new view of the city and some new friends!

Explore The Friday Night Street Market

ljubljana

I stumbled upon this market with my new friends from paddle boarding after our adventure. We were all so hungry and our guide told us there’s a cool street food market in the center of town. It only happens on Fridays. So if you find yourself in Ljubljana on a Friday between April and October, you have to spend some time wandering down the aisles of the market. I settled on some delicious pad thai and a craft beer while my friends grabbed burgers and wine.

But wait, there’s more!

I really believe that just wandering around a city is the best way to see it and Ljubljana is the perfect place to do just that! Have you been? I’d love to hear your suggestions!
