Six Things to do in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

I recently flew over to New York for the week to visit my family and catch up with friends. It was a quick trip, filled with a lot of downtime and seeing the people I love. But, one of my highlights from my entire trip was my time in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. There’s just something about this little slice of Brooklyn that is perfect. I always say that if I were ever to move back to New York, I would definitely head to Williamsburg. I always have such a blast there and there is never a shortage of things to do in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. So, what kind of things can you get up to there? Read on to find out!

Six Things to do in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

1. Check into the Hoxton.

The Hoxton Williamsburg has been open for a little over a year now. It’s such a cool and quirky hotel. Honestly, I’m a huge fan of the Hoxton hotel group. I’ve decided I’m going to make it my mission to visit all of them — I think there are nine or ten (three alone in London, which are all perfect).

The Hoxton in Williamsburg was the first one they opened in the US. It has 175 bedrooms, three restaurants, including an amazing rooftop with a gorgeous view of the skyline (sadly it was closed for the season). There is also a cool little area where tons of people/digital nomads come to work during the day.

2. Eat the best pasta you’ve ever had outside of Italy.

Do yourself a favor and book yourself into dinner at Lilia. It’s INCREDIBLE. Seriously, I’m a bit of an Italian food snob after living in Italy for a year and I can honestly say that the pasta I had at Lilia was the best I have had outside of italy. I ordered the sheeps milk filled Agnolotti,  with Saffron, Dried Tomato, Honey. It was divine. We started the meal with their housemade mozzarella which is made daily and then served on toasted garlic bread and topped with lemon zest and shaved bottarga (which are fish eggs). We also had the roasted trumpet mushrooms with arugala, balsamic, and almonds. For dessert we had this thing called the Italian job – it was fresh soft served gelato covered in all kinds of goodness like honey. They also have an extensive wine list. It’s definitely not cheap, but the service is incredible and the food is insane. Bookings open a month in advance, so make sure you get yourself in there!

3. Take a stroll through Domino Park.

Walking around in Williamsburg is great. There is so much going on at all times and Domino Park is a fairly new addition. It’s a really cool park located right next to the East River and it overlooks the Williamsburg bridge. It’s beautiful! Theres a taco stand there, twinkle lights, lounge chairs, a volleyball court, bocce court, and a park for kids. Obviously it was a little too cold out to fully enjoy it, but the views are great no matter what the weather.

4. Head up to Westlight at the William Vale Hotel.

If you’re looking for a place to get food or drinks that has an amazing view and rooftop that’s open all year round, you have to head to Westlight at the William Vale Hotel. It’s a bit pricey, but imagine how much you pay to go up to actual rooftop attractions. I think it’s the highest rooftop in Williamsburg and you get insane views!

5. Explore like a local.

Check out the Brooklyn Brewery, head to Brooklyn Bowl, shop at one of the many boutiques, check out the Brooklyn Flea, head into a dive bar, the options are seriously endless if you’re wandering around Williamsburg.

6. This is a bonus since it’s only open in the summer and I was there in the winter…But, head to Smorgasburg.

During the summer you can head to Williamsburg to eat everything you’ve ever imagined. Seriously, there is so much food at this thing, it’s insane. Smorgasburg is open Saturdays between April and fall. It’s free to enter, just pay the food vendors for what you order. It’s so much fun!

In the winter you can go to Brooklyn flea to experience a smaller version!
