Six Places You Have To Visit In 2017

places to visit in 2017

I’m really looking forward to the New Year (mostly because that means new travel plans). 2016 flew by, an it was filled with a crazy amount of travel. I visited nine new countries and had an incredible time. And while I had an incredible time in each of those new places, I’m ready to visit a few more places this year. And if it were up to me, there are six places to visit in 2017.

My year will start off with a trip to Nicaragua and Panama. I’ll then head to Cuba. Afterwards I’ll be home for a bit before visiting Iceland in March. Then, over the summer I’m hoping to get to Copenhagen, Denmark to visit a friend, and hopefully make a stop in Portugal. (I’m sure there will be a ton of places in between! – Money permitting).

Six Places To Visit In 2017

Nicaragua

This Central American country has been high on my list for awhile. It’s not as obvious as a place to visit as Costa Rica would be, but it still boasts natural wonders, and historical cities. I’m looking forward to visiting Granada to check out the beautifully colored buildings and take in a bit of history. I’ll head to San Juan Del Sur and Maderas Village to spend time by the beach! I’m also dying to go Volcano boarding in Leon. Do you have any other suggestions? I’ll be there for about two weeks!

Panama

A country that I only put on my list because I have family friends who live in Panama City. But, after doing a bunch of research, I am probably the most excited to visit this country. There are so many beautiful places besides Panama City. I’m hoping to get in some beach time in Bocas del Toro and San Blas Islands, and take in history in Panama City,

Cuba

Cuba has been at the top of my bucket list for years. Because I have dual citizenship, I’ve always had the opportunity to visit there, but the timing never workout. I’m definitely heading there early this year, before things really start to change. I can’t wait to visit the charming and colorful city of Havana and go to Viñales to get in a bit of nature. I’m also going to head to the beach!

Iceland

Photos of Iceland have been flooding my Instagram feed for months now and I have to get there soon. I’m going to road trip the Ring Road and hopefully (fingers crossed) get a glimpse of the Northern Lights. I’m usually not one to head to cold places, but I can’t say no to the natural beauty that Iceland has to offer.

Copenhagen, Denmark

A friend of mine is in school in Copenhagen and I have heard such amazing things about this Danish city. First of all, it’s super colorful which is always a win in my book. Second of all, it’s one of the greenest (environmentally friendly) places in the world and I think that’s worth checking out.

Portugal

Ever since I lived in Europe, I have wanted to visit Portugal. It’s a place that I can’t believe I haven’t gotten to yet. And after writing a few articles about Lisbon, I can’t wait to visit the beautiful country for a few weeks over the summer. The place is so rich in history (and there are beautiful beaches and yummy wine), that I’m sure there are a lot of local hotspots that I have to check out!
