The Hills Are Alive….Salzburg, Austria

I’ve now been lucky enough to visit Salzburg twice and I love it there.

The first time I visited the gorgeous city was during the holidays. I started my day off on the Sound of Music Tour which was so much fun. On the Sound of Music Tour, you will hop on a coach bus with an awesome tour guide who knows literally everything that there is to know about the classic movie. You’ll visit many places that the movie was filmed at such as Mirabell Gardens and the Mondsee Abbey. Make sure to try some delicious apple strudel when you stop for a snack!

Afterwards we headed to the Christmas Markets where you can buy ornaments, knick-knacks, and presents for your family back home. If thats not your thing, make sure to get some mulled wine and a sausage from one of the vendors as a stroll around the markets without either of those is incomplete.

This time around, we only had a half day in the city and we spent it on a walking tour where we got to see some of the beautiful buildings of Salzburg. My favorite thing to do in the city is definitely visiting the Augustiner Brewery which is actually in a monastery.

The monastery is fully functional and your beer is served to you by monks. There are delicious Austrian-german delicacies such as sausages and chicken, schnitzel and more. I don’t think a visit to Salzburg is complete without stopping by the brewery.
