Plan: Booking Flights

booking flights

So, now that you have picked your destination, its time to start booking flights!

I usually head over to Skyscanner to search for a flight. I find that since it searches through millions of flights, I can usually find the best deal here. You can be super specific with your search, choosing specific times, airlines, and flight lengths; or, you can see what Skyscanner comes up with!

You can choose your departure city and then search “Everywhere” and you will instantly be able to find the cheapest flight to anywhere in the world! Its a great feature if you are still unsure of your destination. It also does not hurt to be spontaneous. You could end up having an awesome trip somewhere you wouldn’t usually choose to go to.

I like that you can search for multi-city tickets if you are interested in having a stopover somewhere like Singapore or Dubai.

Once I decide on a good route, I ALWAYS head over to the airline’s website because often you can find ‘super deals,’ where a flight is heavily discounted (but will not show up in search results). This can be found mostly on smaller airline sites like Vietnam Airlines. I have found several flights almost half price on their site!

If you have some time to book your ticket, set up a price alert, so that you can be notified when a price has dipped or if its about to go up!

Other good sites are Kayak and Google Flights or if you are under 30, try looking at STA Travel. They often have amazing deals and offer some of the cheapest prices around.
