#CheckingIn: JW Marriott Los Cabos

I really enjoy traveling back to countries I have already been to. Especially when it’s a new region. So, when the Paradise by Marriott collection of resorts called me, I answered. JW Marriott Los Cabos is one of nine resorts within this collection, and when they invited me to visit, I couldn’t wait. So, I hopped on a plane from Florida and traveled to the Baja region of Mexico along the west coast. And when I stepped off the plane and had a chance to look around outside, I was already blown away but the beautiful landscape in Baja. So, I was even more excited to see what the JW Marriott Los Cabos was going to look like.

Arriving

When you pull up to the JW Marriott Los Cabos, you’ll be amazed at the property. It is absolutely stunning and the entryway from the lobby to the resort is so dramatic and beautiful. But first, you’ll be greeted with a cold towel and welcome drink, which will be handed to you by the friendliest staff ever. Seriously, the highlight of my trip was the staff.

The Rooms/Amenities

We had the pleasure of staying at the GriffinClub, a boutique hotel located on-site at the JW Marriott. Because of this, we had access to several amenities that other guests do not. When you stay at the GriffinClub you have free daily breakfast, complimentary beer and wine, a premium happy hour each evening, and snacks throughout the day. You can also visit the spa to use the facilities and have access to a private pool area.

It’s really a special area.

And the rooms are stunning. We had an Ocean view with the most beautiful balcony (where we enjoyed sipping on complimentary mezcal). The king-sized bed was comfortable and the walk-in waterfall shower incredibly relaxing. One night upon returning to my room I noticed that one of the butlers drew me a bath, which was unexpected and lovely.

The Spa

Along with the how attentive the staff was at the JW Marriott Los Cabos, my other favorite part of the resort was the Jasha Spa. Taking the word luxury to another level, the spa is the perfect place to spend a relaxing morning or afternoon. There is a beautiful lap pool, therapy pool, plunge pools, steam rooms, saunas, a fitness center, and more.

The treatment rooms are comfortable, some even with their own private jacuzzi. I opted for a signature 60-minute massage and it was heavenly. I left feeling so relaxed and at ease.

The Food

I’m all about good food and my dining experiences at the JW Marriott Los Cabos was anything but ordinary! My favorite dish was the ahi tuna ceviche…or maybe the Baja fish tacos. I’m not sure if I can really make that decision. All I can say is that you won’t be disappointed! (There are six dining options on property).

Activities

When I first found out I would be traveling to Cabo, I told one of my friends who had traveled there last year. And she told me, “you have to go whale watching.” So when the hotel arranged an excursion to Cabo San Lucas to go, I was so excited. Then I was worried that my expectations were set too high. And then we saw thirteen whales! And at the end of our three-hour boat ride, we even saw two whales breaching. It was an incredibly humbling experience and something to tick off the bucket list!
